THE INTERNATIONAL SOCIETY

The International Society began at Bolton more than a decade ago

with the aim of bringing Bolton's international students and interested United Kingdom students together in a social and recreational environment. The Society is run by a committee of students. It

maintains good links with local Rotary Clubs and businesses and regularly organises trips to places of cultural interest around the United Kingdom or to entertainment and social events. The Society's annual trip to the illuminations in Blackpool is one of the most popular events in the calendar.

The International Society is the biggest society at the university with almost 300 current members; it is funded both from within and by some donations from outside organisations such as the local Rotary Clubs. Once a year the Society arranges an International evening where students are encouraged to bring along examples of their own cultures and food stuffs so that fellow students and other guests attending the event can enjoy the experience of something different.

"It has been the best experience of my life. When I have had a problem, the lecturers were always there."
