Historic Colchester

Colchester is Britain's oldest recorded town and a great town in which to live, work and study. Colchester combines ancient and modern with its Norman castle and museums, alongside excellent shopping facilities, clubs, pubs and restaurants, a multi-screen cinema and multi-million pound sports and leisure complex. The Leisure World complex offers fitness and leisure pools, squash courts, a gym and much more including Aqua Springs, a Mediterranean themed sauna and spa.

The town centre has a lot to offer for evening entertainment: a lively network of arts venues, including 'The Arts Centre' and 'The Sound House'; the Hippodrome and Route nightclubs; and a growing number of restaurants and bars. The nearby Mercury Theatre holds an array of productions all year round.

Colchester has a large student population as the University of Essex, with approximately 9, 000 students, is located on the outskirts of town. Colchester Institute has over 10, 500 students across 2 campuses.
