Study Medicine and Veterinary Medicine in the United Kingdom

College of Medicine and Veterinary Medicine University of Edinburgh

The College has four schools - Molecular and Clinical Medicine, Clinical Sciences and Community Health, Biomedical Sciences and Royal (Dick) School of Veterinary Studies and also provides undergraduate and postgraduate teaching in medicine and veterinary medicine. It is an internationally recognised centre of research excellence.

School of Biomedical Sciences

The School of Biomedical Sciences comprises three divisions (Biomedical Sciences, Medical Microbiology, and Neuroscience), all with active teaching and research programmes. It incorporates the Centre for Genomic Technology & Informatics, and the Centre for Neuroscience Research. It also has close links with the Centre for Infectious Diseases. The School hosts seven interdisciplinary research groups.

School of Clinical Sciences and Community Health

The School of Clinical Sciences and Community Health has an international research profile, with its submission in the 2001 Research Assessment Exercise to the Hospital-Based Clinical Subjects Unit of Assessment achieving a 5* rating and that to the Community-Based Clinical Subjects achieving a 4 rating.

With active research awards exceeding £52M, the School houses major research, teaching and clinical groups in Cancer, Genetics, Clinical Neurosciences and Psychiatry, three Research Centres and two Interdisciplinary Research Groups.

Royal (Dick) School of Veterinary Studies

The School teaches postgraduate and undergraduate degree programmes, the latter providing the necessary training for a future career as a veterinary surgeon, and undertakes research across a range of veterinary-related fields.

Graduate School of Medicine and Veterinary Medicine

The Graduate School offers an extensive portfolio of masters and PhD programmes across the biomedical and veterinary sciences within a world-class research environment with 5 and 5* ratings in the 2001 United Kingdom Research Assessment Exercise. The Graduate School is currently offering an exciting range of research and higher degree opportunities including:
