The University of Sunderland is a dynamic, modern university with high standards of teaching and research and a growing reputation as the university for enterprise, employment and opportunity. We have high quality programmes at all levels to help individuals achieve their full potential. At the same time, we are proud of the key contribution the university makes to the economic and cultural well-being of our region as a whole. Sunderland has an international outlook and students from across the globe are, increasingly, choosing to study with us - either on campus or on our accredited programmes in partner institutions.

State-of-the-Art Facilities

The University of Sunderland is based on two main sites and is well equipped with modern learning and leisure facilities.

On the north bank of the River Wear, the Sir Tom Cowie Campus at St Peter's is at the heart of the university's development plans. The impressive David Goldman Informatics Centre, and the brand new Media Centre are all based at this riverside location. A total investment of over £50m provides some of the best learning and support facilities in the country.

The Graduate Research Support Office

The University has as a priority, 'to advance the research standing of the University in areas of strength and areas of high potential'
The Graduate Research Support Office provides a focus and catalyst for research, especially in cross-Faculty developments and activities, for research students and as a vehicle for enhancing the level of intellectual debate within the University.

The vision of the Graduate Research Support Office is:

to nurture excellence for the future through positive promotion of the research efforts and activities of the University of Sunderland, through matching these activities to the needs of the outside world and through instigating new, and building on existing, areas of high calibre research

This vision expresses the wish of the University of Sunderland to play a full part in the development of high quality research teams and centres and to contribute to the intellectual well being and wealth of the community. This can only happen if the staff of the University are supported in their endeavours and the Graduate Research Support Office assists in this by bringing together all levels and types of support for research under one banner and from one office.

The University of Sunderland has an international reputation as an innovative University, which provides courses which give our students the skills that are required for successful careers in all fields. We have more than 11000 students, including 1800 international students from over 70 countries. The University has an award winning new campus and provides a comprehensive range of English language support courses.
